Needham N. Benefield
seved in the war between the states
in the 1st Georgia Regulars of Gilmer County (he joined in Gwinnett Co.).
He had the first two fingers shot off at Sharpesburg Virginia.
He recieved a Civil War pension in both Georgia and Alabama.
Needham move to Cullman Al after the war,
after his wife died in Cullman, he moved back to Gwinnett for several months
then returned to Cullman where he lived with his daugher Susan and her husband John Godby.
