ROBERT BERRY HOME

WILEY P. BERRY JR. was born on September 1st 1919 and died on August 18th 2007. He Was married and his spouse is still living W.P. as WIley P. Berry Jr was called by his family was the baby in the family . In the picture on the right he is the youngest looking down on the right. For a larger view of this family CLICK on the small Image.

The picture on the left was WP Berrys School Picture. as a young man. This may be his first or second grade picture. The next picture on the left seems to be a highschool picture of WP. Berry Jr.
W.P. Berry was in the CCC in 1941 just before the United states was drawn into World War II. His mother was very upset about the things that were going on in Europe and was really worried about W.P. being in the Army. As it turned our His mother was Killed by a car on May 4th 1941 and never really knew anything about the real war. When W.P. was called up they rejected him and he never had to serve in the Army.

There was always a controversy about what the P. stood for in Wiley P. Berry Sr and Jr. I have read where General Thomas Person had his name written as Passon on several ocassions. Wiley P. Berry Sr. always thhought his middle name was Passon. His grandfather was definately Thomas Person Berry and I beleive the two names are interchangeble (Passon and Person). I do think the middle name for W.P. Berry Sr.was chosen and named for his grandfather.
Thomas Person Berry is recorded in the official records that I have found as (Person) and the same goes for General Thomas Person. As a matter of fact The General gave a large sum of money to help get the University of North Carolina started and they have a building on campus today named Person Hall.
W.P. Berry Jr and his wife had two children had adaughter and a son.
