This is a picture of me at the grave site of Sarah Cate She was the Sister of my great great great grandmother Hannah Cate. These two girls married two of Robert Berry's sons from Orange County North Carolina. Hannah Cate married William Berry on August 12, 1799. Thomas married Sarah Cate on August 11, 1800. Thomas was apparently Killed before 1812 when his father wrote his will. Folklore has it that he was killed by the Indians in Tennessee while searching for land. I know he sold some land in Orange county in 1807. Sarah Berry then married John Pigg and moved to this area of Tennessee. They raised David and Eleanor Berry and had children of their own. David and Eleanor Berry were double first cousins to my gg Grandfather Thomas Person Berry. Some years ago the old headstone you see behind the the new one was plowed up and it was found to be Sarah Piggs headstone. I feel very lucky to have been able to locate her grave. Without the Internet and the help of a lot of good people this picture would never have existed. I consider it was an honor to be photographed at my ggg Grandmothers sisters grave. |
