THOMAS BERRY PAGE

Thomas and William Berry married sisters. William married Hannah Cate on August
12,1799
One year later Thomas married Sarah Cate on August 11,1800. Thomas had two
children David  and Eleanor Berry..These are the only children they ever had as far I know. Thomas was present at his father in laws estate sale in 1803 ( see CATE PROPERTY SALE). Thomas spent 7 schillings and 7 pence at that sale. He bought 1 bell, 1 sugar pot, 2 pots,
and 1 pair of cards.

It must have been shortly after that when Thomas headed to Tennessee to look for
available land.  The folklore in his descendant family is that Thomas was probably killed
in Williamson County Tennessee by the Indians while searching for land. We know
Thomas was dead when his father Robert wrote his will on April 16, 1812. His father
stated the fact in his will. He left a slave to Thomas Berry's heirs in that will.  In 1810
for some unknown reason Hannah listed as head of household with another adult female
in the same age category. The Berry family in Tennessee thinks this adult was Sarah
Cate Berry. I tend to agree with that assessment.

Sarah Cate Berry married John Pigg on December 11, 1815. They made their home in
Tennessee
and were apparently very successful there.

I think  the research that has been done by the Thomas Berry family in Tennessee is
very accurate. Based on this fact my GG Grandfather Thomas Person Berry was a double
first cousin to David  and Eleanor Berry. This makes it of very special interest to me.
