ISAAC BERRY PAGE
Isaac Berry was
described in his fathers will as being retarded.
The portion of his fathers will
that describes Issac condition reads as
followers:
I will and bequeath to my son
Isaac Berry one negroe woman named Lydia
also one horse to the value of
30 dollars and two cows and
calves. This my son Issack Berrys legesey
to be left in the care of my son
Henry Berry so as for the
aforesaid Issac to the benifit of if but so
that he can sell or dispose of it without
Henry's approbation also this my
son Issac Berry legesey at his death
to be devided among my heirs equally
provided he has no heirs born
after this will is wrote also this my son
Issack Berry legesey to be given to
him for his own disposal provided
if he comes to proper reason., if he
does not come to right reason to
be kept as above mentioned.
I will and bequeath to my son
Henry two negroes named Young Jack and
Nicy and two cows and calfs
also my possesions of land at his
mothers death provided he gives to my
son Issack Berry one hundred dollars
fifty to be paid one year after
his mother's death and the other fifty
two years after his mother's death
It seems to me That Robert Berry
was a very kind and considerate man
from reading this portion of his will.
He made it perfectly clear that
he wanted Isaac Berry's needs to be
taken care of. I am impressed with his apparent
love and concern for a son that
apparently could not take of himself. I
think this speaks well of Robert Berry's
character.
