ELIZABETH BERRY PAGE

The first record I have on Elizabeth was a Bastardy Bond charging that
William Riley was the father of her unborn child.
An order to apprehend William Riley was issued August 19, 1791

courtorder

The Bastardy Bond was issued on August 20, 1791

bond

Since these documents were issued in August of 1791
Mary was probably born in
late 1791 or very early in 1792
We know that this unborn child was Mary because
Robert Berry
named her as the daughter of Elizabeth
when he wrote his will in 1812.

In 1862 a letter was sent to the Orange County court house
requesting documentation substantiating ownership of a slave
named Doll that was left to Elizabeth and then passed on
to Mary Berry in a subsequent will or as per instructions
in Robert Berry's will written in 1812. This letter was sent
from Auburn, Macon County Alabama. I suspect the Doll
and Dick mentioned in the letter are children of the original
Doll in Roberts Will. I also think there may possably be a will
that I have not found made by Elizabeth leaving Doll and any
of Doll's children to Mary but this is only speculation.

Mary Berry married Thomas Berry in 1809 and must have
moved to Alabama. I  have no knowlege of what transpired or
who Thomas Berry's parents were. He might be one of Robert
Berry Jr's sons. Henry Berry was the bondsman.
