A LIST OF ROBERT AND ELIZABETH CATE BERRY DESCENDANTS

Some of our Robert Berry family landed in America as early as 1620. Robert Berry was listed in the "VIRGINIA 1704 RENT ROLLS" in Princess Anne County, Virginia. His son Robert Berry with several friends and relatives homesteaded in Granville County, North Carolina. The parcel of land that Robert Berry chose to homestead in 1751 soon became Orange County in May of 1752. Orange County, North Carolina was a huge county but only had about 5000 total residents in 1752. William Churton surveyed Robert Berry's land grant property on December 3rd 1753.William Churton was the land grant officer for Lord John Carteret the 2nd Earl of Granville. The early planters applied for and were granted Granville Land Grants. Our Robert Berry (OC) was granted his Land Grant on the 12th of May 1757.

The information on this page is provided so you can find out if you are related to anyone who has already taken a Y-DNA test. We are known as the Orange Co., NC Berry family. At the current time we have about 150 Berry Males who have taken this test.The participants are devided in 18 different groups or families. When the DNA project was first started it was a common belief that all Berry's would be from a single ancestor. As you will see this is far from the results we have had. I will add a new Berry family each day until I have a link for each family in the Berry DNA project.
